
The classic baked potato!
Prep Time: 60 min
1 portion
- 1 large PEI Russet Potato
- Butter (as desired)
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
1. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
2. Gently scrub potato to remove dirt and loose skin; prick potato several times with a fork.
3. Place the potato in oven for 50-60 minutes or until cooked through.
4. Remove from oven and make a lengthwise slit on the top of the potato and squeeze gently to open.
5. Place butter on top of potato and season with salt & pepper; serve immediately.
Microwave Method:
1. Gently scrub potato to remove dirt and loose skin; prick potato several times with a fork.
2. Cook on high power for 8 minutes, rotating halfway through cooking.
3. Allow to stand for 1-2 minutes; removing from oven and make a lengthwise slit on the top of potato and squeeze gently to open.
4. Place butter on top of potato and season with salt & pepper; serve immediately.
Chef’s Tip:
• Serve baked potatoes with sour cream, bacon, green onions and your favourite cheese.
• Baked potatoes are simple to prepare and this recipe can easily be prepared for as many people as needed. They are a great base for many other recipes such as gnocchi or hash browns.
