Toe Taps & Taters Comes to one of the Largest Potato Storages on PEI!

(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – August 31, 2017) The Toe Taps & Taters Signature Culinary Event is returning for the fifth year in a row as part of the PEI Fall Flavours month long culinary festival. This year’s event is scheduled for Friday, September 8th, beginning at 5:30 pm.
This year brings some big changes to Toe Taps & Taters, moving locations from the Canadian Potato Museum in O’Leary, PEI to another potato-centric venue: Sherwood Produce’s potato storage building in Canoe Cove, PEI. The potato storage, one of the largest in PEI, will be filled with millions of pounds of fresh Island spuds once the potato harvest season kicks into high gear, but for next week, it will serve as the perfect venue for the 2017 Toe Taps & Taters event.
This year’s celebrity chef host is Chef Chuck Hughes of Food Network Canada’s Chuck’s Day Off and Chuck and Danny’s Road Trip. Chef Hughes also co-owns several highly rated restaurants in Montreal, including the popular Garde Manger. “When I think of PEI one of the things I always think of are potatoes. So I can’t wait to get back to Fall Flavours for this amazing event. This year, come and get your hands dirty, planting and picking potatoes with me. After, ask me whatever you want at a Q&A and then join me for a fantastic potato feast. Followed by a Trinity Bradshaw concert. Hope to see you there for this good ‘ole fashion potato party” says Chef Chuck Hughes. This is his second time hosting the potato event.
Once again, the Toe Taps & Taters menu will showcase the versatility of the potato through a very hearty meal, including moules frites, potato handpies, certified Island prime rib and a baked potato bar! Many local ingredients will be on the menu. As well, the evening entertainment will feature PEI’s own Trinity Bradshaw and will be brought to us by a new partner, Fall Halls.
Rodney Dingwell, Chair of the Prince Edward Island Potato Board, notes that “we are excited to host another successful Toe Taps & Taters, and the new elements this event will bring for this year. It is a unique location, to have a potato-inspired meal inside a potato warehouse, and we are excited to have Trinity Bradshaw with us this year. It is a perfect way for us to kick off the potato harvest season with our friends from near and far.”
Canoe Cove is less than a 30 minute drive from Charlottetown, and transportation to and from the event is also available for those who prefer not to drive. For more information on the event, including links to purchase tickets and a full menu, please visit
